Churchin’ It Up
My church has a teenage ministry that I’m involved in through music. I just started with the worship band about a month or two ago and so far it’s been really fun. We meet every Thursday to “practice” (i put that in parentheses because we like to mess around while we attempt to practice) and play every sunday morning for the teenage congregation. Our pastor, Jonathin, is brand new to the church. He’s young and pretty dorky but he’s a cool dude that has good taste in music. He is usually behind all the shenanigans that interupt our rehearsels. Last Thursday, he started throwing dodgeballs at everybody and then our pianist/vocalist girl Leah got involved in it with him and his dodgeballs. He hid behind corners and waited for her to walk by, snickering as he chucked the ball at her when she got close enough. She would retaliate by chasing him with the ball he just threw at her, stopping when she got about five feet away, winding up, and throwing it at him with all her strength. It always is entertaining. Even today while we were warming up before church, he pulled out a laser pointer and started pointing it at everybody, distracting them from playing and making them mess up. It keeps me interested when there is no drumming on a song.
